Sunset over Myanmar's Shan mountains viewed from Mae Hong Son. Mae Hong Son is an oasis at the corner of so-called modern fast changing life-style of today Thailand. Many people come here for a touch of nature and scenery. Mae Hong Son has Myanmar (Burmese) style temples and monasteries, shops selling Shan foods, and several guesthouses to accommodate the tourists.

And it is a starting point for many nature walking, climbing, rafting and elephant riding trips to the mountains, homes of wildlife and ethnic hilltribe people. Some people are already fearing of the damages of mass tourism.
