Koh Chang national park, a group of more than 50 islands near Cambodian border, is located about 340 km , by land and sea, to the east of Bangkok. It is famous for beautiful coral, waterfalls, and beaches. The biggest island Koh Chang, 30 km long and 18 km wide, is the second biggest in Thailand after Phuket. The highest point on the island is Khao Jom Peasat at 744 meters above sea level. The water surrounding the islands have good variety of hard and soft corals

To get to Koh Chang one need to take a 315 km bus trip from Bangkok to Trat, the capital city of Thailand's south-eastern province called Trat. From Trat it is another 18 km to reach to Laem Ngop, a town where there are ferry boats to Koh Chang.

There are long sandy beaches especially on the west coast of Koh Chang. The island is still covered with mountainous rain forest for more than 60%.

Koh Mak, the next major island to the south , is covered with coconut groves. This island has a very nice beach on the north-west bay.

Koh Kut, the second biggest island in the Koh Chang group, is mountainous and is heavily forested for about 50% of its land area. There are several fine waterfalls on this island.

Koh Kradat, a small island in the group, is said to have the most beautiful sand beach. It has Thai house accommodation.

Koh Kood is also another small but worth visiting island with Thai house accommodation available.

Koh Wai has rocky coral formation along its coast. This is an island of fishermen.

Ko Lao Ya
It lies at the south of Ko Chang. The group comprises Ko Lao Ya Nai, Ko Lao Ya Klang and Ko Lao Ya Nok. The transportation from Laem Ngob boat pier at Trat takes about 2 hours and a half. The islands has beautiful beaches, crystal-clear water and cololurful corals.

Rain fall is heavy in this areas and the wettest month is August. The best months to visit are December to February when there is almost no rain and the temperature is at its lowest range : between 20ºC to 23ºC. The temperature in April, the hottest month, could be as high as 35ºC.

There are several resorts and hotels on Koh Chang and other islands. The rates range from 1000 Baht per night to 2000 Baht per night depending on the facilities available and location. Bungalow style accommodations are also available.

Day 1
Leave Bangkok in the morning for the boat pier, a 333 km distance. Take a boat ferry to get to Koh Chang. Sightseeing and overnight on Koh Chang.

Day 2
Some kayaking, snorkeling and hiking in the rain forest. Overnight on Koh Chang.

Day 3
Excursion to other islands. Overnight on Koh Kut or other island.

Day 4
Hiking on Koh Kut. Kayaking and snorkeling. Overnight on an island..

Day 5
Come back to the main land. Drive back to Bangkok.
